The Ecosystem Integrity Index has been developed for timberland asset manager Resource Management Service.
The EII has been developed by scientists and ecologists at the environmental consultancies Nature Positive and RSK Wilding and is designed specifically for working forests where trees are harvested and replanted for commercial timber production while supporting conservation objectives.
The index is also the first to be aligned with the Taskforce on Nature Related Financial Disclosures framework, giving investors an advantage in nature-based reporting amid growing investor demand for quantifiable conservation metrics and helping protect against accusations of greenwashing.
Last month, the European Parliament voted on the landmark Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), requiring thousands of companies to disclose nature impacts and dependencies, and for the first time making biodiversity a core financial risk.
