The Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation, Beyond Finance and FosterImpact have launched the Women Empowerment for Climate fund.
The $100 million impact fund looks to empower women to implement policies to adapt to climate change and will invest in sectors that benefit women’s climate adaptation in Asia and Africa. It targets access to clean water, access to clean energy and sustainable agriculture by financing local enterprises and microfinance institutions.
Véronique Faujour, Managing Director, Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation, said, “We are convinced that women are the real agents of change, and that they need to be given greater responsibility and involvement in decision-making. This is not just a question of equality; for us, it is a necessity if we are to develop the economic growth of our regions, and it is a prerequisite for the success of climate policies.”
Maud Savary-Mornet – Beyond Finance’s CEO and founder; Camille Huret, FosterImpact’s CEO and founder, said, “We are very optimistic about this partnership, which aligns us with common values and a shared understanding of the climate challenges faced by, for and with women.”
