Elon Musk has responded to a post on Twitter that discusses Tesla’s inferior ESG rating to cigarette maker Philip Morris International.

Musk commented on Twitter,” Why ESG is the devil” after Aaron Sibarium posted information on S&P Global’s ESG rating for Tesla. This stands at 37/100 compared with PMI’s rating of 84/100. Sustainalytics has also given Telsa a lower rating that cigarette maker Altria. Musk’s comment comes after previous statements by the Tesla CEO about ‘woke’ ESG ratings. Tesla’s low overall ESG score has been strongly influenced by its low social and governance scores.
