HSBC AM head responsible investing resigns

Stuart Kirk, head of responsible investing at HSBC Asset Management has resigned following his controversial speech on climate change.

Kirk’s speech at an FT conference in May entitled, “Why investors need not worry about climate risk”, provoked a backlash and led to HSBC suspending him pending an internal investigation. On July 7th he announced he would be leaving the bank stating, “if companies believe in diversity and speaking up, they need to walk the talk. A cancel culture destroys wealth and progress.”
