UK PE firms fail to enlarge ESG plans for 2021

A new survey has shown that UK private equity firms have not increased their commitment to ESG in 2021.

The survey, published by BDO, shows that the percentage of UK private equity firms with UK operations with a published ESG plan or investment strategy remained at 57% for 2021, unchanged on 2020. The survey of 100 private equity firms also found that 29% have a dedicated ESG investment individual, up from 25% in 2020 with 29% having a dedicated ESG team.

Currently, 55% of UK PE firms have signed up to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, up from 49% in 2020 with 48% reporting the ESG impact of their investments.
