Norway fund to ESG screen small caps

Norway’s sovereign oil fund will begin screening small caps stock for ESG risks.

Nicolai Tangen, chief executive, has said that up until now the fund has only screened the largest stocks in its portfolio but that it will begin ESG screening 500 to 600 small cap companies that are added to its index each year. These will be mainly in developed markets including the US and Europe. Tangen told Norway’s parliament this week that he wanted the fund to become a world leader in responsible investment.
