Asian investors are showing increased interest in ESG investments, says Standard Chartered Private Bank.
In its Sustainable Investing Review 2020 survey, the bank says 42% of 1000 investors surveyed said they planned to invest between 5% and 15% of their funds in sustainable investments over the next three years.
The survey of high net worth investors in Singapore, Hong Kong and the UAE found they are willing to consider allocating funds towards ESG even if they have no previous experience in making such investments. Standard Chartered says that although 98% of HNW investors are interested in ESG, 93% were apprehensive about investing in this area. “Banks therefore play a critical role in providing essential guidance to clients to unlock the growing momentum for sustainable investing,” it added.
