Robeco says they will start using satellite imagery to check palm oil plantations for deforestation.
The firm will use images from Dutch firm Satelligence to monitor palm oil plantations and forests in Malaysia and Indonesia to see if they are being cleared to make way for new palm oil trees. Robeco use a benchmark of the amount of land under cultivation that has been certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a not-for-profit group that Robeco joined in January.
