CoE Pension says mining must embrace ESG

The Church of England Pensions Board has said the natural resources and mining sectors must fully embrace ESG with investors.

Adam Matthews, Board Director, said the industry needs to both collaborate and increase transparency with investors to tackle climate change otherwise the fund, and other investors, could disinvest from energy intensive industries.

Matthews said that the CoE was trying to set out a set of industry standards in the form of its Transitions Pathway Initiative. He also said that a major obstacle remains lobby groups acting on behalf of big business.
