New research from the International Monetary Fund has found that sustainable fund performance is comparable to that of conventional equity funds.
In a chapter from its October 2019 Global Financial Stability Report, the IMF say there are more than 1,500 equity funds worth $600bn with an “explicit sustainability mandate.” The organisation suggests investors don’t necessarily need to sacrifice returns when making ESG investments. However, the IMF also says that ESG funds make up only 2% of the total investment fund universe.
