Pittsburg University has said its endowment will now pursue socially responsible investment strategies.
The university’s chancellor Patrick Gallagher announced this week that its endowment fund will start to develop socially responsible investment strategies. The decision comes after the release in July of a report by the Pittsburg University Socially Responsible Investment Committee which set out the pros and cons of responsible investing for the endowment.
The report also highlighted efforts by other US university endowments to follow an SRI strategy and set out ways in which SRI can contribute to manging the university’s fund. These include screening and corporate engagement.
