Global green bonds reached US$86.4 billion in the first half of 2019, a 26.2% increase from a year ago, as number of issues grew 14.9%, according to the lastest global green bonds review from Refinitiv.
Europe continues to lead the way in global green bond issuance, capturing 48% of market share. Country-wise, France has taken the lead (with electric utility company Engie SA being the most active green bond issuer worldwide), with China slipping to third place behind the United States.
