Acorn Holdings of Kenya has launched the first climate bond from east and central Africa.

The issue raised 4.26 billion shillings ($41) and was made possible following the completion of the green bond rules and guidelines which were launched early this year by the Kenyan Capital Markets Authority and Nairobi Securities Exchange. Acorn is a real estate development and will use the funds for the construction of environmentally friendly student accommodation.
