Aviva issues responsible investment review

Aviva Investors has published its latest Annual Responsible Investment Review, reporting its voting and engagement activity for 2022.

Across Aviva’s liquid markets activity, the firm undertook over 1425 substantive engagements with companies and recorded 366 instances where the firms helped drive positive changes in corporate behaviour. It voted on 73438 resolutions at 6732 shareholder meetings – voting against 27 per cent of management proposals, including 49.1 per cent of pay-specific resolutions.

Mark Versey, Chief Executive Officer at Aviva Investors, says, “I am very proud of the work our team has done in 2022. Our macro stewardship team has continued its campaign to reform the international financial architecture in order to mobilise private finance to address the climate crisis and we have expanded our Climate Engagement Escalation Programme from the biggest carbon emitters in the energy, metals and mining and utilities sectors to include the biggest users of fossil fuels.”
