DWS head resigns after greenwashing raid

DWS CEO Asoka Woehrmann has resigned following claims of greenwashing at the firm.

Police raided DWS offices in Frankfurt on Tuesday following claims of greenwashing by the asset manager. It comes following earlier claims by former DWS sustainability officer Desiree Fixler that the company exaggerated the ESG criteria of some of its investments. Fixler said that DWS used the label “ESG integrated” for some of its investment which wasn’t matched by the actions of its fund managers.

DWS says that it has “cooperated fully with all relevant regulators and authorities on this matter and will continue to do so”.
