BBH survey shows strong growth of ESG ETFs

The Brown Brothers Harriman 2022 Global ETF Investor Survey shows that 89% of global ETF investors plan to increase their allocation to ESG this year.

The survey of 386 investors in the US, Europe and China, also found that ESG ETFs attracted $120 billion in 2021 with 51% of Europe’s ETF flows going into ESG funds. BBH says that increasingly, respondents have highlighted the lack of consistent methodologies in ESG as a concern but that SFDR classifications rated the highest ESG screening tool for European respondents with 74% saying that they select funds classified under Article 8 or Article 9.

89% of all respondents say they plan to increase their allocation to ESG investments of all kinds in 2022 with the US showing a strong increase with 89% also saying they plan to increase their allocation to ESG investments.
