Switzerland sees surge in ESG investing

30% of assets managed in Switzerland were invested sustainably in 2019, an increase of 62% on the previous year.

The study by the Swiss Sustainable Finance Association (SSF) and the University of Zurich’s Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth looked at assets invested according to ESG criteria and found total investments reached 1.163 trillion CHF in 2019 from 716.6 billion CHF in 2018. Of the total, institutional clients held the bulk of sustainably managed assets, accounting for some 79%. The SSF says their goal is to make Switzerland a sustainable financial centre.
