The effect of ESG investing on global metals demand and supply has been highlighted in research from the University of Queensland.
Researchers from UQ’s Sustainable Minerals Institute have assessed ESG in the context of more than 600 individual copper, iron and bauxite orebodies and found the majority of these could either prevent, delay or disrupt mining operations. The researchers say that numerous mining projects “stall or are abandoned” due to materialised ESG risk.
