Pimco renames fund

Pimco has renamed one of its emerging market debt funds to explicitly describe it as ESG. Its GIS Socially Responsible Emerging Markets Bond fund has been rebranded as the Pimco GIS Emerging Markets Bond ESG fund. Launched in 2010, the fund has about $680 million in AUM and is headed by Pramol Dhawan. The fund invests in dollar bonds issued by emerging market sovereigns with some allocations in local currency instruments.

The firm says they exclude controversial weapons, tobacco, pornography and coal. It also invests in corporate issuers that already show sound ESG practices.
