D’Maris Coffman

D’Maris Coffman is Professor of Economics and Finance of the Built Environment at The Bartlett at University College London, where she is also Vice Dean Innovation & Enterprise. She works at the interstices of economic history, economic geography, environmental and climate change economics and the history of economic thought. She is an editor-in-chief and coordinating editor of Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, and she serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Cleaner Production, Economia Politica, Marine Development, and Frontiers of Engineering Management. In 2023, Professor Coffman was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and a foreign member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. She is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University’s Department of Earth Systems Science.

Over the past four years, she has worked on a variety of projects for the UK-China (Guangdong) CCUS Centre and Tsinghua University’s Shenzhen Institute on voluntary carbon market design, carbon offset standards, the implementation of blockchain solutions for the reboot of China’s voluntary carbon market, and the use of blue credits. She is also Vice Chair of the GEB Foundation (UK), which seeks to internationalize best practice in the evolution of the next generation of carbon offset standards
